Who we are

Since its origin in 1988 Memorials by Artists has helped in the commissioning of over 2500 individually designed memorials throughout the UK and beyond and has been a leading voice in the campaign to encourage more flexibility in churchyard and cemetery rules for memorials.

Harriet Frazer was awarded a National Art Collections Fund Award in 1991 for An Outstanding Contribution to the Visual Arts and an MBE for Services to the Memorial Arts in 2002. She still leads Memorials by Artists' small team of advisors, whose offices are situated in the beautiful grounds of her home, Snape Priory on the Suffolk coast.

In 1996 Harriet was joined by co-director Hilary Meynell and the two work in close collaboration with colleagues Angela Chandler and Frances Hook. Between them they have a wealth of experience in offering emotional and practical help to the bereaved. Using their extensive understanding of ecclesiastical and cemetery requirements and their personal knowledge of the artists on their register, they provide quietly efficient, sensitive guidance for individuals and families facing this very difficult task.
