THE ART OF REMEMBERING bookMemorials by Artists for Young People, Children and Babies is a guide to help families who are facing the extremely hard task of finding a memorial to celebrate the life of a young person, from before birth to 30 years. The book was written with parents in mind but is equally useful for those who have lost a partner, a sibling or a friend. Over seventy colour photographs of unique hand-carved and finely lettered memorials are illustrated, ranging from headstones, tablets and pebbles to stone seats and bird baths, in stone, slate and wood, from traditional and classical to unusual and uplifting contemporary work. Articles give practical advice on a variety of subjects, including wording, children's involvement, ceremonies, and churchyard rules. Quotations from bereaved families and several of the artists whose work is illustrated are also included.

1st edition of MEMORIALS BY ARTISTS booklet

The Art of Remembering DVD is a record of the exhibition, which was held in the grounds of Blickling Hall, Norfolk, in 1998. The DVD records all 54 memorials (seats, boulders, sundials etc, as well as a wide variety of gravestones). There is a commentary by the calligrapher and scholar Professor Ewan Clayton, which reveals the works as part of a continuing British tradition, and shows how today's lettering artists are developing that tradition.
